The aim of this Master’s dissertation is to develop an English subject-syllabus for the 4th
year of the Compulsory Secondary Education.
As teachers, we have the obligation and the responsibility to create our own syllabus, both
in the teaching public examinations and in our own teaching practices.
To elaborate a syllabus, the teachers in the Valencian Community need to follow the laws
that standardise it, such as the Organic Law on the Improvement of the Quality of
Education (LOMCE), and the Decree 87/2015, that establishes the curriculum here in the
Valencian Community. Besides, its structure is also established by law and contained in
the Order 45/2011. The current legislation mentioned will be taken into consideration for
the development of this Master thesis.
After introducing the theoretical framework relating to didactic syllabuses, I present the
setting and the students, and then I state the objectives and key competences, the contents,
the methodology, the assessment and the measures taken with students with special needs.
I also address the cross-curricular content, such as the promotion of reading and use of
ICTs. Finally, I present four teaching units with their sequence for implementation in the

rd term of the year.
The project presented here emphasizes the importance of syllabus design, and how to
apply it successfully, always keeping in mind the needs of our students and adapting the
objectives, content and the teaching process to them. [-]
