In our days, globalization has changed the way in which foreign languages are learned,
taught, and used. The mobility of people and capital, and the global information networks
and technologies have made the norms ... [+]
In our days, globalization has changed the way in which foreign languages are learned,
taught, and used. The mobility of people and capital, and the global information networks
and technologies have made the norms used before unstable. All these changes make
necessary to consider more reflective, interpretive and politically engaged pedagogies
than in the eighties.
For that reason, the idea of this project is to explain the different ways to teach and
learn foreign languages, with their main characteristics in order to understand the several
changes regarding this type of education. Moreover, a short explanation on the linguistic
situation of the European Union is done. As the EU tries to encourage foreign language
learning, the interest on the concept of CLIL is greater and greater. Because of that, the
central part of this project is dedicated to this concept, its features and also some
experiences carried out in Spain, in order to obtain a general but complete view of the
evolution and current situation of foreign language teaching and particularly of CLIL. [-]
