Over the last few years, a great development in environmental sustainability has been
observed as it has adapted to different cultures and fields all over the world and has
been included as a main focus in the different valuation methodologies. Thus, one of
the sectors that has recently been implemented is the construction sector in both
residential and non-residential housing. The aim of this study is to analyse the
BREEAM energy certification, its variables, valuation methodology and contrast them
by means of a practical business case of construction and housing reforms, carrying
out a sensitivity analysis. The results obtained demonstrate an improvement in the
measurement of financial impacts, with cost improvements and improved housing
performance together with a greater social impact and sustainability in both short and
long term. [-]
