No
agencia no quería saber nada.
No me gustaba
Estaba destinada a
decidirán a quién contratar y a quién no?
a aspectos intangibles.
A cambio, mis

At the following written has been developed a business plan, which has had as
a result SOM Personal Branding. ¿How has it born? ¿At what it’s based?
¿Which are its key points?. We’ll find out ahead.
¿How SOM Personal Branding has born?
During these four years of degree, I´ve dedicated myself, besides learning, to
observe. Observe the changes that were happening at the environment.
We were starting a peep crisis time, and that meant high changes at all the live
aspects. And that’s how it has been.
Spain has been evolved at a crisis situation, and as a person, so do I.
On these four years at college, I’ve changed. Those changes made me who I’m
right now. But, what it has to do with the topic of this paper? The answer is too
much.
When I started my studies at advertising and PR, I’d clear in my mind that I
loved advertising. I wanted to develop my career at it. Advertising passion me,
and it still does.
The thing is: when I started my second college year, a fantastic job offer came
to me. I took as much profit of it as I could. However, it made me doubt about
the career that I loved so much.
At that time, I realised that the ad agencies weren’t my thing, I didn’t like their
capsule routine work and either the relations between people, that at first time
seemed fantastic, but it weren’t, the tension was palpable.
So, I decided I was going to work right to the advertiser. I didn’t want to know
anything about agencies.
I started to research about roles, functions, and responsibilities inside the
advertiser.
And what I find out? The answer was not the expected. I neither liked the
advertiser, and I couldn’t project myself on it.
It came a time where all were doubts and indecision. Was I at the right place?
I’ve confused myself by choosing this degree?
The answer took a little long to arrive, but it final came at college.
It was at my third year when the teachers started talking about the possibilities
of entrepreneurship at the ad industry. And that was permeating me.
I started to research, asked people, and I finally knew. I was meant to start my
own company. Why? Because I saw a world at the other side that I couldn’t see
before, in which I could do the things my way. And in which was impossible not
to see myself in a couple of years.
When the opportunity of doing this paper, one where I could create my own
company, came to me I didn’t have a doubt.
Why Personal Branding?
The answer is easy. The economical crisis has been produced, and it still does,
changes at the companies. There’s no doubt about it. At the changes where I
put my eyes on were the ones that were produced at the companies’ structures.
The unemployment rates were high, and the companies were laying off their
employees because they couldn’t keep them on their structures. People
became expenses, one mass of numbers that continued growing and growing
at the unemployment lines.
At the last year, the situation has gone better, and that has been seen at the
work volume that the companies started to have. The problem is that they sill
have not the economical capacity of maintain the expenses of having another
person at their lines.
For that reason is why the freelancers and the self-employed people are so in
fashion.
At this case, the legal contract between freelance and company lies in:
The company hires a freelance for a certain project. The freelance invoices the
company for its services.
That’s the model which is been more successful nowadays, and it’s because it
allows temporary work for companies which doesn’t have the capability for taking the expenses of hiring person, and besides it allows those companies
which have temporary projects, do a better management of its workforce.
Paying attention to these changes, the idea came through this question: how
they’ll decide whom the hire and whom they don’t?
The answer seems obvious: just as they’ll do with any person that they hire in
their workforce. However I don’t think it works that way.
When a company has a specific project and requires help from a freelance to
carry out, it would have more importance than ever the intangible aspects. A
good curriculum isn’t all, because at the end, they are words written on a paper.
Trough it you can’t know if a person is going to be the one for that specific
project.
Here is where the portfolio and the personal capability to sell itself gain
strength.
But, it stays there? Is enough with a portfolio and the ability to be a good seller?
And the most important, everyone knows how to sell his or her selves?
In my opinion the answer to the three previous questions is no. A resounding
no, because if I didn’t believe it this way, this wouldn’t have any sense.
The key is the differentiation, an effective differentiation that could take to
success. But this differentiation isn’t a simple process. The differentiation needs
an exhaustive process of self-knowledge from inside for being able to show it
outside. And here is where the personal branding takes its part.
People, on essence are unique and unrepeatable individuals. It’s just a matter
of knowing where looking for to detect our difference and build our brand.
But, there’s no worth finding out a vain difference, we have to reach an effective
difference for reach the career objectives that we are looking for.
Which is the key of SOM Personal Branding? Which is the difference of my
company?
Strategic alliances. Strategic alliances with providers that allow us offer a better
service to our customers.
The question is: ¿why I’m going to do something, when it can do it another
person much more specialised than me, with better results?
In business we’ve to learn how to delegate. That’s what my company is about.
About delegate functions for the ones I don’t consider myself properly trained.
By this way I can offer a more complete service up to the importance of my
clients.
The strategic alliances are based on “win to win”: mi providers obtain clients
and I can offer a more completed service. In exchange, my suppliers bring
down its prices, and I can gain extra benefits, or decrease my prices, so my
client will obtain a cheaper service.
As long as I have a profit business, my suppliers will have a profit business as
well.
What is SOM Personal Branding looking for?
My company vision is: being the company who finds what make special and
differences its clients from the rest, and like this add value to my clients.
Our mission is to give resources to our clients; to they could face its life from the
difference view.
How the company is going to be?
For manager the company I’m going to be a self-employee. My office is going to
be located at a co-working space, in which creativity and inspiration are in the
air. Besides, I’ll register my brand at the “Oficina de Patentes y Marcas”.
What services I’ll offer?
The services that my company offers are divided in three packs: the Basic, the
Complete, and the Premium one. SOM Personal Branding list of services is the
following:
Personal Branding diagnosis
Study of the applier for delimitate competences and skills, in order to
detect opportunities
Creation of a Personal Brand (logo, brand values, differentiation, etc.)
Brand registration

and a personal blog.
Basic steps for make an optimum use of Social Media
Job interviews training.
90 minutes of a personal Coaching session
Management of portfolios and curriculums, to fit them to the needs of
each brand.
Besides of these services, also exists the possibility of management of each
Personal Brand that we create.
To this extra service we add the printing services: visit cards, etc.
But, how are we going to be known?
I have developed a Marketing Plan for targets. This Marketing Plan which
consists of four steps: the first one, where we are going to develop our portfolio,
the second step, where we are going to de networking actions, the third one,
the education one (be asset at Valencia and Castellón as the Personal
Branding company, and make it known), and the fourth one and the last, the
keep on one.
What about the benefits?
SOM Personal Branding wants to be a company that who keep on with its
activity in the middle and long term. According to the studied data at the
financing plan, SOM will be able to be profitable from its third year of activity.
This data is found inside the Spanish average. However, from SOM, we prefer it
this way; we prefer going step by step, instead of having too much success and
then slink with it.
We count with the fact that the development of personal branding isn’t very
established in Spain. For that reason, the main thing is to raise public
awareness of the relevance of personal branding, and let them know that this
isn’t just a fleeting trend, but it is here to stay. [-]
