The samples are pieces of those materials and the analytes are mostly volatile or semivolatile compounds. For this reason, the samples were subjected to a heat treatment in a closed
container with a certain amount of water, in which the analytes migrate towards it. After this,
the compounds are subjected to derivatization and subsequent detection by high-performance
liquid chromatography coupled to an ultraviolet-visible detector (HPLC-UV). In the first instance,
a preliminary study was carried out with solutions of these compounds of known concentration,
for the optimization of the derivatization and the chromatographic method. [-]
