Childhood obesity is a health problem associated with an increa
sed risk of ill health in the
future whose prevalence has increased alarmingly. Interventions
combining the support of
family, healthy eating habits, physical activity (PA) and behav
ioral components are effective in
its treatment. However, when it is considered the maintenance,
the results are not as
encouraging. To achieve maintenance of interventions, it is imp
ortant to take into account self‐
efficacy and motivation. Inform
ation and communication technol
ogies (ICTs) can help to
improving the interventions. We designed a cognitive and behavi
oral treatment (CBT) focused
on the promotion of healthy eating and PA habits. Moreover, we
developed the ETIOBE web
platform that supports this inter
vention. The objective of this
study is to analyze the efficacy of
two treatments (traditional CBT versus CBT supported by ETIOBE
web platform, CBT‐E) on
anthropometrical, self‐efficacy
and motivation variables. 47 ob
ese children have been randomized to two conditions: “CB
T” or “CBT‐E”. The anthropomet
rical variables were assessed
during all sessions and follow‐up. Self‐efficacy and motivation
questionnaires were filled in the
pre and post‐treatment. A mixed ANOVA was performed for all var
iables. Simple mediation
analysis were performed to test whether the effect of condition
on post‐anthropometrical
variables scores were mediated by self‐efficacy. Both treatment
s produced an improvement in
the anthropometrical variables. CBT‐E participants showed more
PA self‐efficacy as the
treatment progressed and lower BMIz, lower fat mass and higher
lean mass. These results
suggest that ICTs can help clinic
ians improve the effects of th
is type of intervention. [-]

plataforma web denominada ETIOBE
(peso, masa grasa y masa
normativa) (IMC‐z), menores nive
