El Rol de Enfermería en Instituciones Penitenciarias

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Correctional nursing is characterized for offering it ́ s attention to a few patients with special characteristics, due to the deprivation of freedom to which they are submitted, with a very specific pathology and a big predo minance of drugaddiction. All th ese characteristics define specializing care to them. OBJECTIVES: To define the functions that nursing professionals redeem at the present in Penitentiary Institutions. METHODS: Search in the databases Pubmed, Library Coch rane Plus, CINAHL, Spanish Magazine of Penitentiary Health, Virtual Library of the Health and Scielo. There limited it self the search to last 10 years and publications in Spanish, Catalán and English. There was used the index - linked language DeCS and MeSH . RESULTS: There recover 35 articles that are analyzed by a tool of critical reading with the target to determine that articles have a high methodolical rigor. Only 57.14 % (n=20) of the articles reaches a high level of methodological quality and it ́s cho se n to include them in the review. CONCLUSIONS : Correctional nursing has several fields in which to improve despite the big work that it develops. One of the mainefforts should go directed to improve the welfare continuity when the prisoners receive the f reedom to drop in vain the effort that is realized inside prison for maintaining it ́s heatlh.

INTRODUCCIÓN: La e nfermería peniten ciaria se caracteriza por brinda r su atención a unos pacientes con unas características muy especiales, debido a la privación de libertad a la que están sometidos, con una patología muy específica y una gran prevale ncia de drogodependencias . T odas estas características les definen unos cuidados espe cializado s. OBJETIVOS : Definir las funciones que desempeñan actualmente los profesionales de enfermería en Instituciones Penitenciarias. METODOLOGÍA : B úsqueda en las base s de datos Pubmed, Biblioteca Cochrane Plus, CINAHL, Revista Española de Sanidad Penitenciaria, Biblioteca Virtual de la Salud y Scielo. Se limitó la búsqueda a los últimos 10 años y publicaciones en castellano, catalán e inglés. Se utilizó el lenguaje ind exad o DeCS y MeSH. RESULTADOS: Se recuperan 35 artículos que se analizan con una herramienta de lectura crítica con el objetivo de determinar que artículos tienen un rigor metodológico alto. Solo el 57.14 % (n=20) de los artículos alcanzan un nivel alto de calidad metodológica y son escogidos para incluirlos en la revisión. CONCLUSIONES: La enfermería penitenciaria tiene varios campos en los que mejorar pese a la gran labor que desarrolla. Uno de los principales esfuerzos debería ir encaminado a mejorar la continuidad asistencial cuando los internos reciben la libertad para no dejar caer en vano el esfuerzo que se realiza dentro de prisión por mantener su salud.
