The present work consists of a documentary investigation on the historical situation lived in the 16th century under the Spanish Empire. From which, it was possible to situate the figure of women at that time and to make an analysis of the wealth of feminine diversity, from a feminist perspective, gender and citizenship.
This way, the documentary research includes a frame of reference in which the context, the environment, the political situation, the society, the education, the customs, the economy and the culture of the sixteenth century are mentioned.
Such data frame the great diversity of little known women, who throughout their work are being made visible and have played such an important role in history, whose biographies are not easy to find, except in specific bibliographies on women.
The visualization of these women reveals how, even in an androcentric context, with strongly established gender roles by a clearly patriarchal society, there were women who stood out for their courage, education, knowledge, talent or culture and have not received the standing that corresponds to them in history.
