A psychoeducational intervention program is described for family members and patients with an eating disorder (TCA). The pilot study examined the acceptability and satisfaction of the programme among 8 caregivers and 11 patients, in addition to the changes produced after the intervention in terms of improvement in family relationships and symptomatology of ACT in the group of patients. The type of attachment was also analyzed as a relevant factor in the appearance and maintenance of TCA. The evaluation took place at the beginning of the study (T0) and at the end of the intervention (T1), using the questionnaire EAT-40, CaMir-R and the Parental Bond Instrument (PBI). After the program, there was an improvement in the symptomatology of the TCA, dysfunctional behaviors related to the feeding decreased and there were positive changes in the perception of the familiar climate. The program was highly valued by caregivers and patients, who expressed to be very satisfied and to have increased their knowledge about eating disorders and acquired skills to make family communication more effective and conflict resolution. The intervention is presumed to be beneficial for both caregivers and patients, although results should be replicated with larger samples. [-]
