The story of Bathsheba begins when David looks at her while she is taking a bath. Bathsheba does not know that she is being watched, but when David sees her she wants to be brought to the palace to finish lying with her. From that moment a series of dramatic events begin, that will lead to David to commit a murder.
The painters from the Middle Ages, through the Renaissance to the Baroque have repeatedly reproduced the Bathsheba scene in the bathroom, because it is a scene that there is a nude and that makes it more interesting to represent the female anatomy on the canvas.
But also, there have been painters who have represented it with the letter of David in the hand. In the Old Testament this scene does not appear, because David actually sent messengers to bring her into his presence.
In the Old Testament it does not specify where she was bathing, though we assume it is her house. This has given a lot of play so that the artists represent it in different places.
In the Middle Ages, Bathsheba appears as a victim, and David is the man who makes her sin. Bathsheba begins to appear in the painting of the Renaissance in a more sensual and provocative way, as in the Baroque. [-]
