Purpose: The main objective of this study is to analyze how proactive behaviors are
present in companies oriented to change and innovation and, to the extent these firms
minimizes the resistant behaviors to the change. We also explore some organizational
antecedents that can promote proactivity in workers and curb the resistance to change.
Specifically, we will study the job characteristics, such as autonomy and the time
pressure on tasks, as well as the entrepreneurial orientation of the company.
Design/Methodology: To achieve these objectives, we propose a research model
based on the theoretical background that we check in an exploratory way in the context
of two innovative companies with a technological base of Castellón. To do this, we
carried out a study based on interviews and questionnaires that we both to employees
and managers (CEO and CTO) of two companies of the technological environment of
Castellon and Vila-Real, as they are “IoTsens” and “eConectia”.
Findings: The results show us that in both companies observed high levels of
proactive behaviors both to analyze the point of view of employees and the CEO /
CTO. On the other hand, their resistance to change levels are low. Our results show
that as it increases the level of autonomy in the post it is noted that the employees
show a proactive behavior higher. It is also note that as companies increase the levels
of autonomy in the post, there are fewer resistant to change behaviors. [-]
