The purpose of this article is to present some experiences on archival cooperation we are developing in Universitat Jaume I Archive, in order to explain what is cooperation for us. As the title of this monographic indicates the archive isn’t an island: in an interconnected world, the Archive can’t work alone. Cooperation and transversality could be carried out at different levels: inside our university, with other archives and with other nearby institutions. The investment of time and staff that cooperation requires has very positive results: optimization of resources, more ambitious objectives, new services, efficiency and quality in management, greater visibility of the archive.
