Mood is in everybody’s life. It will be one way or another depending on the day, depending on the situation, depending on probably a lot of factors. People have a mood baseline that would correspond to their state mood. This baseline suffers fluctuations depending on factors, and this level of mood would correspond to trait mood. Depending on the mood we are in we will want to do some things or others, therefore guiding with this our behavior or conduct. For this study we decided to focus mainly on sexual variables. The main objective was therefore to find out how, using a daily registration of the variables to collect the data, sexual activity, sexual desire, and gender influence mood.
A total of 74 college students voluntarily participated. They had to register a series of variables at the end of the day during a minimum period of 30 consecutive days. To do this we used a longitudinal design to collect the data, and a complex method to obtain the results: intensive longitudinal method with temporal series.
Results show significant differences between mood and the sexual variables we considered (sexual activity and desire). We also found significant differences in gender and the interaction between gender and sexual desire. Furthermore, the lags made within mood were found to be significant up to day15 (except day 8). With all of this, we can verify the memory aspect in mood and the positive influence that sexual variables have over mood, without forgetting about the importance of gender. [-]
