A deep analysis on Shakespeare´s work Richard III is the purpose of this dissertation.
It is an extensive study of the play, which includes the analysis of the marvelous play performed by the Spanish Theatre Company called Noviembre Teatro. I went to see the play this year 23rd July in Almagro (Spain).
Therefore, as a starting point I provide a background of the Spanish Theatre Company and a brief biography of William Shakespeare, as well as a few details of that period and the context of King Richard III.
One of the aims of this paper is to portray who Richard III was and to see if he really was as evil as he is depicted in the play. This leads us to think about how he is represented by the Spanish Theatre Company as well as the features of the set and scenes from the production.
The development of the character is also seen in the play; Richard III was an ambitious King who wanted absolute power to rule England, and his deformity was not a hindrance to get the crown of England. It can be said that the story of England´s last Plantagenet King was not a happy or successful one. [-]
