Assessing the impact of the Kyoto protocol in CO2 World emissions and the current situation of Spain

Abstract

This analyses the impact of the Kyoto Protocol in the reduction of the CO2 emissions. For it there chooses a sample of 248 countries during the period 1990-2014. The proposed model is estimated using OLS, Fixed Effects and Random Effects to verify if the implantation of Kyoto has been effective, besides the utilization of a dichotomous variable to quantify the importance of this implantation. The main results indicate that factors like trade can influence the increase of the emission and that the Kyoto Protocol has an effect in his reduction.
