nacionales: El Confidencial, El Español y El Mundo.
ofrece actualmente numerosas oportunidades laborales.

Data Journalism arises as a new discipline which contributes
with new journalistic routines related to the possibilities that ICTs provide and
that is characterized by the presence of visualizations in the resultant pieces.
This academic paper focus on the analysis of this new model of journalism and
how it’s been accomplished in the election period in three national media: El
Confidencial, El Español y El Mundo. Together with the prime goal of analyzing
4
the media coverage of the elections through this new model of journalism, it’s
added the goal of presenting the differences between digital and immigrant
natives and offering a description of the Spanish Data Unit’s situation. Three
important goals to learn the complete profile of work of this new model of press
that, in words of some authors, currently offers a great amount of employment
opportunities. This study points to significant features such as that the journal
that makes interactive and website visualizations in every single one of his
pieces has as well an outsider programming service, something not
contemplated in the other two media. Concerning to the quantity of sources
used by the thrice of the media (one of the major attributes of Data Journalism
is going to big data banks as sources) they are elevated on digital natives but
not so on digital immigrants. Even when this discipline is increasingly wellknown
and practiced by journalists, Data Units are still an emerging element in
the Spanish national editorial offices and the lack go a specific section in the
journals intended for this method is an example. [-]
