This study arises from the interest in knowing the existing interaction between leader’s Emotional Intelligence and the level of self-reported competence of the composers of the group, and how is linked with the level of quality in the offered service, evaluated by the patients of the healthcare sector. The total sample was composed by an amount of 134 professionals of both genders, divided in 7 groups of a variety of hospitals in the Valencian Community, and 164 patients of both genders.
The cluster of professionals remains the same as the previous set in the hospital, distinguish only the leaders of the rest. Leader’s emotional intelligence was evaluated with the (TMSS-24) test as an indicator of the group performance. Besides, each team was provided with the scale of Professional Efficiency of the (MBI-GS) test, which analysed the burnout in order to know the level of self-reported competence. With regard to the patients, in order to determine the perceived quality, a quality battery of 4 scales which rated empathy, loyalty, extra-role behaviour and satisfaction through the (SERVQUAL) was applied.
From the results and the correlational analysis made with the statistics r test of Person and the T the Student, it could have been observed several correlations statistically significant and positive, such as the performance of groups and the leader’s emotional intelligence with the level of self-reported competence and the level of quality perceived by the patients with the group performance.
In conclusion, it is clear that leaders that are more emotionally intelligent, achieve major performance because of the better environment and the high welfare levels; hence the positive perception of self-performance that can be observed in the satisfaction of the patients of the quality service.
