Inequality between men and women in science is a problem that has kept over time in spite of the progress made in the last decades. The objective of this study is to carry out a bibliometric review on whether gender disparity in advanced contemporaneous science exists. For this purpose, there have been analysed the articles and bibliographic reviews from the period 2009-2010 from Science, which is one of the magazines with most impact on the science panorama. This has been done so as to quantitatively examine participation and scientific production of both men and women. The extracted data have been analysed from a gender perspective. Firstly, the signatures from the authors who published between 2009-2010 were collected in the database Web of Science and they were stored in the program Microsoft Excel. From this sample, each name was contrasted with the database GenderChecker, which classifies the names under the categories feminine, masculine and unisex. The names with unavailable gender were grouped either because they appeared with initials or because they did not appear in the database GenderChecker. Finally, after having applied the filters, we have worked with a total amount of 11,083 signatures of a known gender out of 17,993. Results show that gender disparity continues in the production of the magazine Science as 72.9% of the signatures belong to men and only 27.1% of them belong to women. There have also been analysed from a gender perspective both relative frequencies according to the position in which the authors are in the signature order and the scientific impact measured by the received quotations.
