presentan. [-]

Rigorous criminological works that are done via empirical and experimental
methodologies show that the time-space distribution of the criminal phenomenon is
heterogeneous. By studying the distribution of malfeasance on a city map it is possible
to observe patterns that can be very useful for environmental criminology. In this
sense, situational prevention and CPTED (crime prevention through environmental
design), have proven to be theories whose practical application could be useful for
reducing criminal opportunity.
In this project a situational study of crime is carried out to the city of Castellón de la
Plana in order to find out the time-space distribution of crime. To do this, we used 132
for the years 2014 and 2015 police reports, which have helped identifying the areas
with the highest crime rate and the months, days and hours where criminal activity is
higher.
The results show time-space patterns that are not always related to comparative
research, observing – in opposition to the Concentric Model on development of urban
structure Burguees (1925) – that not necessarily the most central districts are the ones
with the highest crime rate. [-]
