During the twenty-first century the need for a new paradigm which changes the
education system has increased, where the education responds to the demands of
society.
Language learning is currently becoming one of the most relevant issues to take
into account in schools. The Globalisation process and its worldwide movement toward
economy, finance, trade, immigration and communication among others, make
inevitable to get into contact and communicate with people from different countries and
cultures. This new situation requires second language learning skills.
Besides, in today's world, communication is a vital tool; communicating over the
web and in different languages is almost a must for any young century.
Technologies, thus, become interesting methodological alternatives, as a support
to the curriculum, improve the quality of teaching and learning foreign languages and
provide relevant tools and resources for differentiation, especially related to increasing
complexity and self-regulated and independent learning.
This paper is geared at showing how Internet and ICT can be implemented for
teaching/learning a foreign language while tackling special education needs pupils and
diversity in EFL classrooms. The process of designing and testing interactive activities
and tasks is described with the purpose of consolidating the capacities of those SEN
students. [-]
