Introducción
El cuidado a los enfermos ha existido desde siempre. Los cuidados paliativos tienen una gran prevalencia hoy en día, su finalidad es atender al enfermo complejo durante la enfermedad y acompañarlo en su muerte y a la familia durante el duelo. Los cuidados de enfermería son cruciales en estos pacientes para conseguir mejorar su calidad de vida.
Objetivos
El objetivo de esta revisión bibliográfica es averiguar cuáles son los mejores cuidados paliativos llevados a cabo por enfermería en el ámbito hospitalario.
Metodología
Se realizó una búsqueda en las bases de datos de PubMed, Scielo y Lilacs. Mediante los descriptores “cuidados paliativos”, “cuidados de enfermería” y “hospital”. Con los artículos obtenidos se llevó a cabo una lectura crítica para realizar la discusión.
Resultados
Los profesionales de enfermería desempeñan una serie de cuidados como son la comunicación, el cuidado a los familiares, el control de los síntomas, sobre todo del dolor y la valoración de las necesidades del paciente y la familia. Todo esto rigiéndose por los principios de bioética y respetando los valores y creencias del paciente.
Conclusiones
Enfermería desempeña un papel imprescindible en el cuidado de estos pacientes. Aspectos como la formación, la comunicación, el humor y las terapias complementarias deberían ser tenidos en cuenta a la hora de cuidar a estos pacientes y a sus familias. [-]

Background:
The care of sick people has always existed. Palliative care is very important nowadays, it's objective is to attend the sick person throughout his/her illness and be with him/her in his death and also attend the family in the period of bereavement. The nursing care is crucial to these patients to improve the quality of their lives.
Objective
The objective of this bibliographic assessment is to find out which are the best palliative cares carried out by nurses in hospitals.
Methodology
A search was carried out on the databases of PubMed, Scielo and Lilacs, under the title “palliative care”, “nursing care” and “hospital”. An evaluative reading of the resulting articles was used to develop the debate.
Results
The nursing professionals undertake a series of roles such as communication, care of families, symptom control, specially pain control and evaluation of the needs of the patients and of the families. All of this following existing protocol and respecting the values and believes of the patients.
Conclusions
Nursing plays an indispensable role in the care of these patients. Aspects such as formation, communication and complementary therapies should be taken into account in the care of these patients and their families. [-]
