Fausto Cruzat y Góngora se trata de uno de los tantos hijos secundones de las familias
nobles navarras, que durante los últimos compases del siglo xvii, buscaron su propio

Fausto Gruzat and Góngora was one of the many younger sons of the noble families
of Navarre who sought their own path far from their homelands during the final years
of the 17th century. In his case, Fausto, despite having started a military carreer, soon
moved to the field of commerce, where he forged close ties with the New Hispanic market
and with the Tagle family. The latter led him to the Court of the Philippines, where he
demonstrated his skills and education, taking the Governorate into the new century and
initiating important economic and institutional reforms. [-]
