En este Trabajo Final de Grado se realizará un estudio comparativo de la vida cotidiana de dos afroamericanos -a través de sus respectivas autobiografías- que vivieron en dos épocas diferentes en Estados Unidos. En primer lugar tenemos a Booker T. Washington, con el cual se recorreremos prácticamente toda la segunda mitad del siglo XIX. Con Henry Louis Gates, Jr., por su parte, abordamos los años cincuenta, sesenta y setenta del siglo XX. El racismo y la desigualdad negra fue una constante si bien la respuesta dada a esa situación fue netamente diferente dependiendo del contexto histórico. [-]

En aquest Treball Final de Grau es realitzarà un estudi comparatiu de la vida quotidiana de dos afroamericans -a través de les seues respectives autobiografies- en dos èpoques diferents en Estats Units. En primer lloc tenim a Booker T. Washington, amb el qual es recorrerà pràcticament tota la segona meitat del segle XIX. Amb Henry Louis Gates, Jr., per la seua part, abordarem els anys cinquanta, seixanta i setanta del segle XX. El racisme i la desigualtat negra van ser una constant si bé la resposta donada a la situació fou netament diferent depenent del context històric. [-]

This thesis examines a comparative study of the daily life of two African-Americans -through their respective autobiographies- who lived at different times in United States of America. First is Booker T. Washington, who sheds virtual lights on the second half of the Nineteenth century. Whilst the second is Henry Louis Gates, Jr. who talks about the fifties, sixties and seventies of the Twentieth century. Although, racism
and black inequality were constant features of both times, yet according to the both texts, the response to the situation was very different depending on the historical context. [-]
