Analysis of internal communication deficiencies at Marmedsa's office in Castelló

Abstract

Internal communication proper working is becoming a growing need tin the business world since it may condition the performance of a company. Basically, internal communication is the exchange of information amongst members of a company. The lack of communication amongst company members may be the starting point of the creation of serious problems. Hence, on the basis of the importance that internal communication has on the business world, this thesis is going to analyse the exchange of information flow in companies. Concretely, the project has focused on the internal communication of Marmedsa’s office at Castelló, which is a shipping agency. The results of the analysis are based on an internship programme which forms part of the English Language for International Trade master. The outcome of the study has demonstrated that the company suffers several deficiencies regarding internal communication. First of all, managers do not share as information as they should do with their employees. Then, it has been observed that there are problems of internal communication amongst the administrative and commercial department. Lastly, communication problems between the members of the administrative departments have been considered. In a whole, the office of Marmedsa in Castelló is suffering some internal communication problems which may seriously affect their performance. Therefore, the final section of the paper is devoted to suggest some internal communication improvements which may help the company to stablish better relationship amongst its members.
