The direct connection between art and the public is one of the many purposes of art education. This paper
confirms that the most important and clarifying starting point is that given by the artist herself. Our interview with
the performance artist Regina José Galindo aims to clarify the meaning of the formal and body language which
envelops her artistic practice and in which she has developed through the years, and its connection with her
denouncement of the patriarchal system. This paper also furthers understanding of her work through the artist’s
sociological, and almost anthropological, analysis of people, and the educational barriers that prevent consensus,
tolerance or vision of the Other in our societies, marked––paradoxically––by a powerful and useful artistic tradition
that achieves this artistic union between human communities. [-]
