The Miradas de Mujeres (Through Women’s Eyes) Festival is an initiative from Mujeres en la Artes Visuales
(Women in the Visual Arts), a national non-profit interprofessional association made up of over 400
professionals in the arts sector in Spain. Through this festival, avenues have been opened up to allow women
artists to exhibit their works and present themselves as subjects of empowerment within the world of the arts,
to move away from being represented to become artists. The festival also brings visibility and recognition to
the work of women artists, which takes place in the month of March and whose motto is ‘The artist is present’,
also the title of the exhibition that MoMA, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, 2010 dedicated to the
Serbian artist Marina Abramovic. And at last the woman artist is present, currently in 308 venues and 15
autonomous communities, and more than 1000 women participated in this third edition [-]
