The aim of the current study is to conduct a study in order to see the influence that the emotional intelligence has on the processes of negotiation. In order to do so, first of all, the level of emotional intelligence of each member participating in the study was analysed. Thus, two groups of students were created, those are, Group 1 including the members with the highest levels of emotional intelligence, and Group 2 which included the members who obtained the lowest levels of emotional intelligence. After carrying out a negotiation between the respective members of each group in order to reach a consensus, the leaders of each group proceeded to perform a final negotiation. The results obtained in the current study show that people with high levels of emotional intelligence do not always obtain the best results in negotiations. However, they tend to be more collaborative and they also use more integrative strategies in these negotiations than people with low levels of emotional intelligence who tend to use a competitive style and distributive strategies.
