In the last eight years the State and several Autonomous Regions have passed laws to
prevent the domestic violence and to protect their victims as well as laws for the equality
of women andmen, whosemain goal is to guarantee the principle of effective equality.
In the legal texts on domestic violence of the State, of Castilla-LaMancha, of Navarre, of
Cantabria, of the Canary Islands, of Aragón, of Galicia, of Andalusia and of Catalonia, the
parliamentary control on the performance of the executive authority bymeans of a
report on the fulfillment and development of the law is specifically planned. In the
regulations on effective equality of the State, of the Basque Country, of Andalusia and,
with some slight differences, of the Valencian Community, an equivalent report has been
incorporated. In addition, in the Basque Country a report of the new Defense
Department for the equality of women andmen has been incorporated. The compared
analysis of the state and autonomic legal rules shows a similar regulation, although with
slight differences in the treatment of the organ in charge of the report elaboration, its
content and the terms of presentation. However, the differences aremore appreciable
when the treatment of the evaluation reportmade in laws on gender violence is
compared with the ones carried out in the laws on effective equality [-]
