España huyendo de la represión oficial. Un grupo importante
de ellos se estableció en Cuba. El pasado común y las
posibilidades económicas, junto con la reconstrucción
emprendida tras la última guerra de independencia y la
reestructuración de la industria azucarera, además de la
posibilidad de propagar la semilla libertaria y organizar a la
incipiente clase trabajadora, funcionaron como factores de
atracción. Los diplomáticos españoles en la isla nos dejaron
testimonio de sus movimientos y de las características
sociopolíticas de estos emigrados que se distinguieron del
resto de la inmigración española [-]

Since the late nineteenth century many anarchists left Spain
fleeing official repression. An important group of them was
established in Cuba. The common ancestry and economic
opportunities, along with reconstruction undertaken after the
last war of independence and the restructuring of the sugar
industry, besides the possibility of spreading the libertarian
seed and organize the emerging working class, worked as
pull factors. Spanish diplomats on the island left us testimony
of their movements and the socio-political characteristics of
these emigrants who distinguished themselves from the rest
of the Spanish immigration [-]
