In the present study it is analysed the relation between mindfulness with both mental and physical
perceived health, the state anxiety and the evaluation of the current pain. In order to do that, six
participants who suffered from different kinds of ordinary but not chronic pains took part in the
collaboration. A pre-test/post-test design was created with an experimental group. Their health perception
was tested with the instrument SF-36, their state anxiety with the STAI and the knowledge of the current
pain with a simple scale created by the experimenter before and after participating in a programme based
on mindfulness. This programme had a duration of twelve days of which the first and the second one
consisted on face-to-face sessions where the experimenter carried out guided meditation to the
participants and the corresponding questionnaires were completed. During the remaining ten days
between the two sessions, the experimental subjects had to practice at least ten minutes a day the
techniques explained in the previous face-to-face session. The obtained results lead us to think that
conscious awareness implies a health improvement, pain and perceived anxiety. Nevertheless, the study
presents certain limitations that should be corrected in the successive investigations in order to infuse
more validity to the obtained results. [-]
