Revisión bibliográfica del Psychopathy Checklist: youth version y las variables género y etnia

Abstract

El constructo psicopatía es uno de los más controvertidos dentro de la psicología. Los rasgos centrales que lo constituyen, así como sus características tanto manifiestas como encubiertas, son todavía hoy motivo discusión académica entre la comunidad científica. En este sentido, es la psicopatía Infanto-juvenil la que más controversia crea. Por otro lado, los estudios publicados hasta ahora han mostrado la posible existencia de diferencias entre distintas variables, especialmente en cuanto a género edad y etnia para el constructo psicopatía. El propósito de esta revisión bibliográfica fue intentar arrojar luz acerca del estado en el que se encuentra la evaluación de la psicopatía con el Pshychopathy Checklist: Youth Version (Hare et al., 2004) en jóvenes en referencia a los variables género y etnia. Para ello, se ha realizado una búsqueda en la base de datos PsycNet y revisado unos veinticinco estudios, de los cuales se han seleccionado los cinco considerados más relevantes. Los resultados son claros en cuanto a la existencia de diferencias de género y etnia para la psicopatía juvenil, haciendo necesaria la interpretación de los resultados con especial cautela y la investigación en este sentido.

The psychopathy construct is one of the most controversial constructs within psicology . The core features that constitute it, and their characteristics both obvious and concealed, are still reason for academic discussion in the scientific community. In this regard, it is the Child and Adolescent psychopathy which creates the most controversy. Furthermore, the studies published so far have shown the possible existence of differences between several variables, especially in terms of gender, age and ethnicity for psychopathy construct . The purpose of this review was to try to shed light on the current state of the assessment of psychopathy in Pshychopathy Checklist: Youth Version ( Hare et al, 2004) in reference to gender and ethnicity variables . For this purpose, twenty five studies included in PsycNet database, have been researched, after which 5 of them, considered the most relevant, were selected and analyzed. The results are clear as to the existence of gender and ethnic differences for juvenile psychopathy, making it necessary to interpret the results with special care and continue the further research in this direction.
