Nueva aproximación al cálculo de velocidades de lectura de subtítulos

Abstract

This paper presents a new toolwich has been developed in order to make reading speed calculations, and whose results are expressedby menas of the two parameters most used in the field: charecters per second (cps) and words per minute (wpm). It has been confirmed that different subtitling software application wich calculates values for cps and wpm is now introduced. It has been designed to make no assumptions, but simply to count characters and to make very straightforward time algebra with the subtitle in an d out times. This new tool allows for the calculation of reading speed values of large series of subtitles at a time, and it may be used both for research and in the classoom environment.
