Abstract

The Spanish trade unions are calling for a general strike to protest against the injustice of the labour reform orchestrated and passed without further contemplation by the Partido Popular, which has been in power since the last election and is unmistakably and despicably at the service of the Europe of capital, financial markets and the genuine power, that is, the economic power behind the scenes. We believe that the strike is a mistaken, purely testimonial response because it has no muscle-power behind it, unless it were to go on indefinitely. Moreover, not paying a day’s wages benefits the treasuries of public and private bodies, since they are not the least bit concerned with the well-being of citizens. But, while this is an important fact, other no less significant events are also taking place: the teenagers who demonstrate in Valencia are brutally suppressed by the police; the cases of corruption (Valencia, Majorca, Seville, etc.) grow in number with every day that passes and nobody seems to give a damn; court rulings are verging on what could be classed as schizophrenic; the far right-wing media just go on with the same old song and keep on hurling insults without anybody suing them; the welfare state – which never actually got completely off the ground in Spain – is being taken apart at an alarming rate. And as though we didn't have enough on our plate with all this, in France a "visionary" murders soldiers and children, while violence breaks out in the same old countries, in which the economic interests of the “civilised world” first want to draw blood and then do business (an obvious practical application of the shock doctrine for transferring funds from the public treasury into private hands).

Los sindicatos españoles promueven una huelga general frente al agravio que supone la reforma laboral llevada a cabo sin miramientos por el Partido Popular, en el poder desde las últimas elecciones y al servicio rastrero e inequívoco de la Europa del capital, de los mercados financieros y del auténtico poder, el económico, en la sombra. Nosotros creemos que la huelga es una respuesta equivocada, únicamente testimonial, porque no tiene contundencia, salvo que fuera indefinida, y, además, no pagar un día de salario supone un beneficio para las arcas de entidades públicas y privadas, ya que el bienestar de los ciudadanos no les preocupa en absoluto. Pero, siendo este un hecho importante, suceden otros acontecimientos no menos relevantes: los adolescentes que se manifiestan en Valencia, son reprimidos brutalmente por la policía; los casos de corrupción (Valencia, Mallorca, Sevilla…) se multiplican y a nadie parecen importar; las sentencias judiciales rayan en la esquizofrenia; la extrema derecha mediática sigue con su “erre que erre” e insultos habituales sin que nadie se querelle contra ella; el estado del bienestar –nunca concluido en España– se desmonta a marchas forzadas. Por si esto fuera poco, en Francia, un “iluminado” asesina a militares y niños, en tanto la violencia se desata en los países de siempre, en los que los intereses económicos del “mundo civilizado” quieren hacer primero sangre y después negocios (puesta en práctica evidente de la doctrina del shock para la transferencia de fondos de las arcas públicas a las privadas).
