La Biblis, Mirra i Santa Anna de Joan Roís de Corella: Traduccions modulades, amplificades i adaptades

Abstract

En les Lamentacions de Biblis, Mirra, Narcís i Tisbe, Corella es basa en passatges de les Metamorfosis d'Ovidi, però modula la forma de presentació: de descripció a carta personal. Potser es tracta d'exercicis de llatí i de retòrica. Més tard, Corella decidí revisar i amplificar aquestes lamentacions, excepte la de Biblis, per unir-les en el volumet intitulat Jardí d'Amor. Corella elabora la Vida de santa Anna combinant materials popularitzats per la Legenda aurea i per la tradició oral/ teatral, però adapta el breu text -amplificat amb oracions per a fer-ne un volumet- per a la lectora, intercalant al·lusions a la seua vida privada.

Corella, in the Lamentacions of Biblis, Mirra, Narcís and Tisbe, bases himself on passages in Ovid's Metamorphoses, but he makes some modulations, changing the form of presentation from narrative to personal letter. We might assume that they were exercises in Latin and rethoric. Later Corella decided to revise and amplify the lamentations, except the one by Biblis, and combine them in the booklet called Jardí d' Amor. Corella elaborates the Life of Saint Anne for a lady who, years after her marriage, was still without child. He combines materials popularized in the Legenda aurea and by the oral and theatrical tradition, but he adapts the short text –amplified with prayers to form a booklet- for the reader, adding allusions to her private life.
