dc.description.abstract | This article examines a special case of transmediterranean relations in the 12th century. Within the context of European pilgrimage to the Holy Land existed a comparatively close relationship between Jerusalem and Santiago de Compostela on a cathedral chapter level. Especially in the first decades of the 12th century the patriarch of Jerusalem and the archbishop of Santiago maintained regular contact. Constituting element of this connection, and carriers of mutual influence, were pilgrims and envoys. In the timeframe under consideration both centres of Christianity were, interestingly, on an absolute high point of their influence, the 12th century was a ‘golden age’ for both Santiago and the patriarchate of Jerusalem. | ca_CA |
| ca_CA |
