Imidazole is an important heterocyclic ring present in several natural products. In the
field of medicinal chemistry, the incorporation of the imidazole nucleus is turning an
important synthetic strategy in drug discovery, as some imidazole related drugs have
shown high chemotherapeutic properties. However, more research is needed to obtain
new and more effective anticancer drugs. Thus, the aims of the present work include the
synthesis of some 4-(4-bromophenyl)-1-arylmethyl-1H-imidazoles as well as their
biological evaluation.
Specifically, the objectives of the current study were:
I. The synthesis of 4-(4-bromophenyl)-1-methylbenzyl-1H-imidazoles and 4-(4-
bromophenyl)-1-methoxybenzyl-1H-imidazoles, whose general structure is
depicted in Figure 6.
Figure 6. Structure of 4-(4-bromophenyl)-1-arylmethyl-1H-imidazoles.
II. The biological evaluation of the above-mentioned compounds as regards:
a) Their antiproliferative activity.
b) Their activity on the inhibition of c-MYC and PD-L1 proteins [-]
