Prevención del burnout de enfermería en la UCI neonatal

Abstract

Background. Nurses of the neonatal ICU is a group at risk of suffering the burnout syndrome due to the characteristics of the patients and the work environment that surrounds them. Therefore, it is very important to study the factors that predispose its appearance and the different strategies that can be take in place to prevent it. Aims. The objectives of this work are to explore the different preventive strategies of burnout that are effective in the neonatal ICU and to explore individual and organizational interventions, as well as to know the factors and consequences that predispose to its appearance. Methods. This study is an integrative review in which the search was performed in the following dabatases: Cinahl, Lilacs, Pubmed and PsycINFO. The established time limit was 10 years. The search was carried out by combining the descriptors in DeCS or MeSH and in natural language. Results. A total of 42 results were found. After applying the inclusion criteria and subtracting the articles that were repeated in the different databases, a total of 6 articles were selected. Conclusions. According to the studies analyzed, some factors that influence the appearance of burnout are: greater number of worked hours, workload, an anguished patient and conflicts with the supervisor, doctors, patients and families. On the other hand, the strategies that were found for the prevention of burnout were: Leadership, self-pity and mindfulness. Finally, it is important that new studies are carried out to develop preventive strategies due to the lack of information that exists.

Introducción. El profesional de enfermería de la UCI neonatal, tiene un gran riesgo de padecer burnout debido a las características de los pacientes y al entorno de trabajo. Por ello, es importante que se estudien los factores que predisponen su aparición y las diferentes estrategias que se pueden realizar para prevenirlo. Objetivos. Los objetivos de este trabajo consisten en explorar las diferentes estrategias preventivas del burnout que son efectivas en la UCI neonatal y explorar las intervenciones individuales y organizacionales, así como conocer las consecuencias y los factores que implican su aparición. Metodología. Este estudio es una revisión integradora que se realizó buscando en las siguientes bases de datos: Cinahl, Lilacs, Pubmed y PsycINFO. El límite temporal establecido fue de 10 años. La búsqueda se realizó mediante la combinación de los descriptores en DeCS o MeSH y en lenguaje natural. Resultados. Se obtuvieron un total de 42 resultados. Tras aplicar los criterios de inclusión, y restar los artículos que se repitieron en las diferentes bases de datos, se seleccionaron finalmente 6 artículos. Conclusiones. Según los estudios analizados, algunos factores que influyeron en la aparición del burnout fueron: mayor número de horas trabajadas, carga de trabajo, un paciente angustioso y conflictos con el supervisor, médicos, pacientes y familias. Por otra parte, las estrategias que se encontraron para la prevención del burnout fueron: el liderazgo, la autocompasión y el mindfulness. Por último, cabe destacar la necesidad de nuevos estudios que desarrollen estrategias preventivas, ya que no existe suficiente información.
