Dentro de la tradición occidental del lamento fúnebre, en el ámbito cultural de la
música del Renacimiento hispano, destaca un motete directamente relacionado con
programas litúrgicos: el “Versa est in luctum”. Este artículo presenta, desde una perspectiva histórica, el estudio de cuatro de estas obras sobre el “Versa”, todas ellas muy
representativas de la estética luctuosa en España durante el siglo XVI, mucho más si
tenemos en cuenta a sus autores, ya que cada uno de ellos está entre los más importantes compositores de música polifónica religiosa de su tiempo. Ellos son: Francisco
Peñalosa, Alonso Lobo, Sebastián Vivanco y Tomás Luis de Victoria. [-]

Regarding to Western tradition of funerary lament, in the cultural field of music in Hispanic
Renaissance, sticks out a motet directly related with liturgical programs: the “Versa Est In
Luctum”. This article presents, from a historical perspective, the study of four of this woks
about the “Versa”, all of them very representative of the funeral aesthetic in Spain during
the Sixteen Century, much more if we consider its authors, as each of them is among the
most important composers of religious polyphonic music in this time. They are: Francisco
Peñalosa, Alonso Lobo, Sebastián Vivanco y Tomás Luis de Victoria. [-]
