The North-Catalan poet, playwright and novelist Jordi Pere Cerdà (the pseudonym of Antoni Cayrol, Saillagouse, 1920 - Perpignan, 2011) shows throughout his literary work a significant interest in depicting the physical and human geography of the French Cerdagne where he was born. The close attention paid to this territory is evidence of the author’s interest, as a literary explorer, in recreating his
own most intimate experiences. In his novella Callastres, published in his volume entitled Col·locació de personatges en un jardí tancat (1993), Cerdà draws a literary heterotopia in this village in the French Cerdagne, formed from the author’s own identity and his imaginary and emotional coordinates.
