Estudio del apego y la autoestima en adolescentes y su relación con creencias

Abstract

There are many variables that coexist in the lives of adolescents and that contribute to the formatio n and maintenance of beliefs that condition their behavior. These variables can be influenced by multiple factors, among which are mainly: the family environment and the relationship with peers. Specifically, in this study we analyze the relationship betwe en the attachment constituted in childhood with the main caregivers and the level of self - esteem present in adolescents, as well as the possible relationship of these variables with the existence of sexist beliefs. The sample consisted of 40 students from the 1st year of Bachiller, between 16 and 18 years of age, who answered three questionnaires: Reduced version of the CaMir questionnaire ; The Rosemberg Self - Esteem Sc ale ; and the Inventory of Ambivalent Sexism for Adolescents . The results were: male subjects scored higher in hostile sexism (but not benevolent) than female gender, without gender differences for the other variables . In addition, the existence of a significant and positive relationship between secure attachment and global self - esteem was observed, as well as a significant negative relationship between insecure attachment and global self - esteem. In turn, a positive correlation has been obtained between one of the factors of insecure attachment (parents interference) and benevolent sexism. In contrast, no relati onship between sexism and self - esteem was found. Given that there is a relationship between the attachment styles developed in childhood and the subsequent self - esteem of adolescents, it would be very important to work from the earliest ages in search of the correct adj ustment of family relationships, and the subsequent development appropriate for minors, at its various levels.

Existen multitud de variables que coexisten en la vida de los/as adolescentes y que contribuyen a la formación y mantenimiento de creencias qu e condicionan su comportamiento. Es tas variables puedes estar influenciadas por múltiples factores, entre los que se encue ntran principalmente : el entorno famili ar y la relación con los iguales. En concreto, en el presente estudio se analiza la relación entre el vínculo de apego constitu ido en la infancia co n los/as cuidadores principales y el nivel de autoestima presente de los/as adolescentes ; así como la posible relación de estas variables con la existencia de creencias sexistas entre los/as participantes . La muestra estuvo constituida por 40 estudiantes de 1º de Bachiller , de entre 16 y 18 años de edad, los cuales respondieron a tres cuestionarios: Versión reducida d el cuestionario CaMir; La Escala de Autoestima de Rosemberg ; y el Inventario de Sexism o Ambivalente para Adolescentes. Los resultados fueron los siguiente s : los sujetos de género masculino puntuaron más elevado en sexi smo hostil (pero no benévolo) que los de género femenino , no observándose diferencias entre géneros para el resto de variables. Además, se observó la existencia de una relación significativa y positiva entre apego seguro y autoestima global, así como una relación significativa negativa entre apego inseguro y autoestima global. A su vez, se ha visto una correlación positiva entre uno de los factores de apego inseguro (Interferencia de los padres) y sexismo benévolo. Por el contrario, n o se enco ntró ninguna asociaci ón entre sexismo y autoestima. En vista de la existencia de una relación entre los estilos de apego desarrollados en la infancia y la posterior autoestima de los/as adolescentes, sería de gran importancia trabajar desde las edades más tempranas en busc a del correcto ajuste de las relaciones familiares , y el posterior desarrollo adecuado de los/as menores , en sus diversos niveles.
