Relaxin - 3/RXFP3 system has been proposed to modulate emotional – behavioral functions such as arousal and behavioral activation, appetite regulation, stress responses, anxiety, memory, sleep and circadian rhythm. In addition, the current preclinical evidence suggests the relevance of the relaxin - 3/RXFP3 system to the pathology and/or symptoms of certain neuropsychiatric disorders. For this r eason, it has been decided to carry out a review in Pubmed, using the RLN3 and RXFP3 gene localizations as a search variable, without limiting the search based on the language, the date of publication, or the type of study, to determine which diseases are associated with genetic alterations of the relaxin - 3 / RXFP3 system. In this review, we found 21 articles that showed genetic alterations in these locations, associated with neuropsychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, Alzheimer's, autism spectrum disorders, eating disorders and mental retardation. Therefore, there is a need to continue investig ating the relationship between genetic alterations in the RLN3 - RXFP3 system and neuropsychiatric disorders to achieve new drugs targeting this system.ca_CA
