Since the economic convergence topic has derived in multiple investigations with different results, in the present study are carried out two principal tasks: On the one hand, a review of the most relevant literature concerning this economic process is presented, and the economic growth theories that support it. The aim is to understand the controversy generated around this phenomenon and try to get some conclusions. On the other hand, the aim of this study is to show the economic growth experienced by the Spanish Autonomous Communities and provinces from 1980 to 2012, analyze the main regional disparities and determine if there has existed a convergence or divergence process along these years.ca_CA
