In the context of a transition from a Linear Economy to a Circular Economy, in which resources are reused or recycled, this Degree Final Project attempts to quantify the impact of curbside yellow bins provision in the determination of light packaging household wastes collected quantities across Spanish cities, with the aim of providing new insightful information on collection and recycling services in Spain. Results show that, for an average city in the sample, increasing the number of curbside bins by 10% increases light packaging wastes collected quantities by 5,58%, which is equivalent to preventing the emission of 97,89 CO2 tonnes (the quantity Madrid emits in 5 days). Nevertheless, new studies on the economic and budgetary implications of an increase in bins provision are needed so as to quantify its optimal level. [-]
