La representación de la mujer en la obra de Goya (1775-1827)

Abstract

Nos encontramos en el siglo XVIII, siglo de cambios políticos y culturales. Las ideas ilustradas aparecen en el territorio español dispuestas a arrojar luz a una sociedad que se deja llevar por las supersticiones, pero tras esto el siglo acaba de la manera más convulsa posible: la guerra de la Independencia. En este contexto se mueve uno de los más célebres pintores de todos los tiempos: Francisco de Goya. De entre toda su extensa obra hay una mirada distinta en el tratamiento que Goya da a la figura de la mujer, una mujer que consigue un mínimo espacio en el ámbito público. Goya aprovecha entonces para pintar a la mujer contemporánea de todas las formas posibles; las pinta en todas sus edades, coquetas, enigmáticas, engañosas, familiares, independientes, aristócratas, heroínas, brujas, trabajadoras, capaces de divertirse, de infundir ternura, pero también de sufrir y salir de las más pésimas situaciones.

We are in the eighteenth century, a century of political and cultural changes. Enlightenment ideas appear in the Spanish territory to throw light on a society which is carried away by superstitions. However, after this, the century ends in the most tumultuous possible way: The War of Independence. This is the context in which one of the most famous painters of all time is moving: Francisco de Goya. Among all his extensive work Goya gives a different treatment to the figure of woman, a woman who gets a minium space in the public area. Thus, Goya takes advantage of this to paint the contemporary woman in all possible ways. He paints her in all her ages, coquettish, enigmatic, deceitgul, familiar, independent, aristocrat, heroine, witch, hardworking, able to amuse herself, to infuse tenderness, but also to suffer and to get out of the most terrible situations.
