Abuelas cuidadoras: percepciones y desigualdades de género

Abstract

La presente investigación trata de conocer las percepciones de algunas mujeres abuelas, a las que se ha entrevistado, en cuanto al cuidado informal de sus nietos y sus nietas, planteando un análisis desde la perspectiva de género. Mediante cinco entrevistas abiertas realizadas a abuelas cuidadoras, en un pequeño municipio de Castellón, se ha profundizado en sus pensamientos y percepciones, a partir de los diferentes aspectos revisados en el marco teórico previo. Como resultados más destacables, se ha podido confirmar cómo la crisis de los cuidados ha supuesto para las abuelas su perpetuación en tareas de las que se presupone que habían quedado liberadas, condicionando así el disfrute de una vejez activa. También, se ha observado que la voluntariedad en cuanto a la dedicación al cuidado se encuentra influenciada por los estereotipos y roles de género impuestos socialmente por el sistema del patriarcado.

The aim of this research is to know through many interviews some grandmothers's points of view about the care of their grandchildren, analysing this situation from the gender perspective. In the five interviews that have been made to five grandmothers who look after their grandchildren, from a small town of Castellón, taking the theorical as a start, we have gone deeper into their opinions and perceptions from different aspects reviewed into the theory. As a result, we have been able to confirm that the current crisis has caused these women to keep on doing some duties they were supposed to be off at their age, affecting this to the enjoyment of an active old age. We have also observed that the volunteering attitude in the job of taking care of these grandchildren come from stereotypes and gender roles that come from the society and the patriarchy system.
