Angelina Beloff y Leonora Carrington bajo la mirada de Elena Poniatowska

Abstract

This research focuses on the look that one of the great writers of our time, the Mexican Elena Poniatowska (Paris, 1932), gives to artists such as the Russian painter and engraver Angelina Petrovna Belova, commonly called Angelina Beloff (1879-1969), to whom Poniatowska dedicated her novel Querido Diego, te abraza Quiela (1978) or the English surrealist painter and writer Leonora Carrington (1917-2011) with her Leonora (2011). These women share a common destination, Mexico, land of light where both leave a troubled past behind. Poniatowska delves into the feminine feeling and reveals suffering as well as the struggle to break the restrictions and social conventions through fictional letters and an exhaustive biography where she awakens the voice that has been drowned in silence for years.

El presente estudio se centra en la mirada que otorga una de las grandes escritoras de nuestros tiempos, la mexicana Elena Poniatowska (París, 1932), a artistas como la pintora y grabadora rusa Angelina Petrovna Belova, llamada comúnmente Angelina Beloff (1879-1969), a quien le dedica su novela Querido Diego, te abraza Quiela (1978) o a la pintora surrealista y escritora inglesa Leonora Carrington (1917-2011) con su Leonora (2011). Mujeres que comparten un destino común, México, tierra de luz donde ambas dejan atrás un pasado atormentado. Poniatowska ahonda en el sentimiento femenino y desvela tanto el sufrimiento como la lucha por romper las ataduras y los convencionalismos sociales a través de cartas inventadas y una biografía exhaustiva donde despierta la voz que durante años ha permanecido ahogada en el silencio.
