El término Psicología Positiva lo encontramos ya en el libro de Abraham Maslow “
Motivation and Personality
” publicado en 1954, en donde dedica un
capítulo a esta temática. No obstante, el enfoque humanista impulsado por
Maslow no estaba tan fundamentado en la investigación, mientras que el
mayor impulso de la investigación que se basa la Psicología Positiva actual
se da a principios de siglo XXI encabezada por sus máximos representantes
en aquellos inicios: Martin Seligman y Mihail Csikszentmihalyi (2000). Todo
esto lo decimos porque no hay que olvidar que la Psicología Positiva es
Psicología
y como tal, utiliza el método científico basando sus raíces y funda-
mentando sus objetivos en el conocimiento y la investigación científica. [-]

The term Positive Psychology may be traced back as far as Abraham Maslow’s
Motivation and Personality, published in 1954, where the author presents a whole
chapter on the topic. Still, Maslow’s humanist approach did not really stem from
research as opposed to the early 21 st century trends in Positive Psychology led by
Martin Seligman and Mihail Csikszentmihalyi (2000), where research in the
disciple started to gain momentum. We must not neglect, at the end of the day, that
Positive Psychology is indeed Psychology, and as such, it applies the scientific
method and it must root and base its objectives in scientific knowledge and
research. [-]
