This paper analyses the informative treatment of terrorist Daesh group videos
made by Spanish digital and traditional newspapers in their news. The study compares the
treatment on printed newspapers like El País, El Mundo and La Vanguardia; and digital
newspapers like El Confidencial, El Huffington Post and eldiario.es from August 2014 to
March 2016. The dissemination on internet of videos with so high violent content has
forced the media to face a new informative challenge. Recently, some advices have been
written about that, but there are not many studies on that subject. Finding the level of
sensationalism on the news was one of our aims. Another aim was realizing about the
differences between printed newspapers and pure players. This paper involves the
analyses of 106 news, which have showed that digital media are more sensationalist than
printed newspapers; and what is more, that doesn’t exist a journalism specialized on
terrorism. The shortage of specialized news, information without a context and the
absence of expert sources have produced an incomplete knowledge of the facts. [-]
