Pharmaceutical sector analysis and M&A valuation models : the Allegan INC's acquisition

Abstract

Corporate restructuring activities are a big part of the corporate finance world, especially in the Pharmaceutical sector, which has experienced a wide wave of corporate Merger and Acquisition activities in the last years. This paper provides a generally analysis of the Pharmaceutical sector and explain the main issues and challenges of the industry in the last two years. For this, a specific analysis by periods of time, by region (USA and Europe) and a comparison of different companies are provided. The most important contribution of this paper is the analysis of specific M&A transactions in which it has been obtained insights about the valuation of the target companies, deal drivers, and synergies in the Pharmaceutical industry.
