One of the problems that some students show in learning English is a lack of motivation. This paper focuses on teaching motivational strategies in EFL classrooms and how the traditional concept of motivation has changed through the years. It also aims to highlight the importance of creating a good atmosphere to incorporate activities that enhance learning motivation. Taking into account the learners’ needs, some motivational strategies are provided to observe how some activities promoted by English teachers keep their students motivated in learning this language. Issues such as folktales and audiovisual resources are also considered. The pedagogical proposal is used in an academic setting where learners are faced with these strategies to enhance and promote motivation. Finally, I conclude by saying that English lessons should be adapted from a motivational point of view to increase learners´ knowledge in EFL classrooms. [-]
